An Exotic Matter Novel Has been published - name change

1. It has a name change (as Ms. Hajra-Lee states, her publisher suggested it and she feels it fits in better with the story it tells).

here is the very nice tagline - When she first agreed to lead the research team of the Niantic Project, Dr. Devra Bogdanovich knew she was headed into the unknown. Publish date for An Exotic Matter pushed back

Well, the publish date for "An Exotic Matter" has been pushed back to mid May, not sure why. But to tide us over, two items were released.

One was a preview of some art being published in the book done by none other than our missing artist Tycho

Exotic Matter Cover Contest and Dr. Bogdanovich campus lectures

Just a few things as we await more news on the Devra front (which may come May 7, the publication date  of Felicia Hajra-Lee's "An Exotic Matter" or perhaps there will ne something before).

First - here is the Niantic Project link to the g+ post and cover contest - note the sample covers that were submitted. How do the images in the samples relate to Devra (if they even do)?

Second - I seem to have missed this Devra reference - but as I was working on another project - I found this image...  Does anyone know anything about this? I believe it is associated with the campus agents campaign Klue was running - http://www.ingress.com/campus

An Exotic Matter - the full story is coming

Awesome news

 This post from Felicia Hajra-Lee - https://plus.google.com/u/0/118344555717370644832/posts/6e4cr5tbWaq - mentions a full publishing of the novel with 9 additional chapters is coming.

In addition to the news is an invitation to help with the cover to the book and also to write a one sentence review (how can you encapsulate all that happened in three chapters in just one sentence??)

The deadline is May 1 - so get those ideas in and help bring this book to publication so we can find out more about Exotic Matter and Dr. Bogdanovich.

As a side note, Felicia changed her google avatar to capture the image from one of the sample book covers. Andrew Bone and Hugo Neves pointed out this is a statue found at this monument (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monument_to_the_Battle_of_the_Nations_ - does it have a deeper meaning?

Hostile Takeover - other XM study labs beware

So, trying to break down the events of today piece what is going on. This is what I have so far, but it is spotty and I am sure there is much missing, will update as corrections are made, please help out with additions and corrections as needed. This is more just getting the events in order, as to what they mean, there is much discussion to be had and truth to be found. Also, this should serve as a warning... or at least something to watch/consider as if this happened to Niantic, until more is known, it could happen to any lab. 

At the time of this blog entry (about 10:30pm) – there has been no communication about this on Edgar Allen Wright, Hubert Farlowe, Joe Philley (other than resharing Niantic posts), Brandon Badger (other than resharing Niantic posts) or any affiliated Niantic persons….

GENEVA, Switzerland (TPI) – An estimated dozen Niantic Security officials have been ‘taken into custody’ by HAZDATA Operatives. After a brief standoff lasting about 30 minutes Niantic Project Security Officials relinquished their weapons and surrendered to HAZDATA control forces.

There was no apparent involvement of Swiss police or military forces. There are no reports of shots being fired or admissions to local medical facilities. A man wearing a Hazdata uniform claimed that this was a ‘training exercise.’ An observer on the scene said that it was ‘very well acted if it was a training scene.’

As of this reporting, HAZDATA Officials appear to be entering the facility. “It is hard to read what is going on’ the observer said. “There are no weapons drawn, but the atmosphere is ‘intense’, ‘professional’.

Following initial reports, a HAZDATA official has confirmed a corpse discovered at the Niantic Facility may be that of theoretical physicist Dr. Victor Kureze.

An undisclosed source told this reporter that Kureze had been murdered. ‘Found in lab, very suspicious circumstances.’

Analysts are currently questioning whether the death of Victor Kureze is tied to an Ingress ‘Player’ event in which data packages were released from the facility and ‘harvested’ by operatives across Europe.

The true relationship between the Niantic Project and the 'Ingress Game' has been the subject of rumors and speculation previously. Thus far, little attention has been paid by the mass media.

A murder in Geneva may change all of that.

The end of chapter 3 - answers and more bloody questions

The last pages of chapter three have been posted. And it is a nice wrap up, nice only in we find a few steps forward, only like the frog to slide down three steps as more questions arise.

So what exciting things did the last few pages reveal

1. The showdown takes place at this location - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C5%A0kocjan_Caves - as mentioned in the wikipedia page - One of the largest known underground canyons in the world and has unique ecosystem

Relating to the showdown (also from the wiki which was actually taken directly from the official park website) - At some points, it expands into huge underground chambers. The largest of these is Martel's Chamber with a volume of 2.2 million cubic m and it is considered the largest discovered underground chamber in Europe and one of the largest in the world. It is interesting to note that an underground canyon of such dimensions ends with a relatively small siphon: one that cannot deal with the enormous volume of water that pours into the cave after heavy rainfall, causing major flooding, during which water levels can rise by more than one hundred metres

Another good reference for the caves - http://www.park-skocjanske-jame.si/eng/skocjan-caves-park_caves_facts.shtml = on this page is a quote from Homer's the Odyssey - the site goes on to mention about a connection of caves to Hades - which maybe is a nice hat tip to what is happening with Hubert - (from site)  -Homer’s epic poem depicts the perceptions of the ancient Greeks of the underworld, according to which the doors to the Kingdom of Shadows were volcanoes and caves. Before entering the Underworld, Odysseus makes libations and burning offerings to the Underworld gods, Hades and Persephone. Homer's epic poem, one of the oldest preserved written pieces, corresponds to the first half of the 8th century B.C. but it draws upon earlier traditions. The finds from Mušja jama near Škocjan belong to the same period.

2. Have looked at the ingress intel map, was not seeing portals in the area, not sure if I was looking at the proper location, but....

3. Further confirmation Devra is developing her own lab and a potential faction aimed at countering Lynton-Wolfe's research and efforts (quote from the chapter)


This entire formation was a huge portal. This Was the kind of place she would need if she was to set up her own operation to counter what Lynton-Wolfe Was creating back at Niantic. 

She would need to find other spots such as this that were bursting with XM. For a moment, she had the sense of achieving some small victory.


something related is that this was the fourth stop Devra had made, considering the reveal she is looking for portals, where else on her trajectory from Zageb to the Caves might she have gone. And will she come back to the caves as her homebase (more on that below)

4. It seems Devra has been shaped or effected by the XM more than was alluded to in earlier items released from Niantic (where while she was listed in the Sensitives section, it had been mentioned she was not as susceptible, or so she thought)

Based on this, what is the nature of Devra's new skills - I've mentioned a possible idea that XM somehow is programming (like a computer) human's brains and/or unlocking the % of the brain we supposedly do not use (here's a hoot, what if the code has always been in the brain and the dialtone is just activating that code - would put a twist in the knickers of those against the Shapers, wouldn't it ;) - but.... what if the time skips are not time skips, but processing times - meaning not so much time slowing, but the brain moving/processing faster (not sure how to explain it)

5. Hubert's "skills" are shown again as he "knows" which way to go to follow Devra.  Is this just his skill or are we seeing the developing ability of those connected by XM to be able to "communicate" almost like the hive mind concept some insects share and can sense where others are...

6. Devra and Hubert were both XM dosed... how will this affect them...

7. Devra is fighting for a much higher cause now, and that makes a person very determined, driven and  potentially a little scary as she mentioned willing to give her life...  It also makes me wonder if this was a parallel feeling developed by any of the Manhattan Project Scientists...

8. Someone saves Devra - who was on the other end, what was that text, and why did 855 fire the bullets like he did and where is he going...  855 says "It turns out you were right doc."  what was she right about, that he could not kill her, or something else?

For now I think it was ADA who texted, but if so, why and why wait until that moment? Well, depending on ADA's motivations, maybe she wanted to expose Hubert and Devra to the XM, so had to drive them to that moment before saving them... or maybe something else

I will say this - that little phone has DAMN good reception in a deep cave LOL - or was the text sent from inside the cave (the phone call is coming from inside the house...haha)

9. Side note - I do like Hubert's words to Devra, "I'm going to close my eyes now".

10. Rome by nightfall... and then where, Milian?

11. Is Hubert dead - where is he... waiting... - which brings up all sorts of questions as Hubert has been interacting with people on g+  or has he????

Timing in the novel An Exotic Matter

Just for fun and to look at the timing of the exotic matters events I made this relative timeline/sequence of events from Exotic Matter - maybe Linda from g+ can use for timeline of events - and Lukas from g+ for the alternate personality theories and just because I used making it as an excuse to go and reread the novel ;)

Running on XM - exotic matter chapter 3

It seems as Misty Hannah has been "freed" from Niantic, another chapter of Exotic Matter has been "freed" as well. In an odd potentially ironic way, Misty and Devra are both freed from Niantic only to continue to be tied to it... or perhaps more appropriate tied to the bigger picture that links all of these pieces...

A few things pop at me from these first pages:

1. the mention of the onion router encrytion service - is this perhaps linked to the mention in the Edward Pillar/Devra chat about contact methods used during the DIAMON Project?  Sneaky faculty getting around IT department ;)
2. The time slips, writer prose or actual time distortions.... if this is Katalena on the computer then is this a time anomaly or something else....????? hmmmm :)
3. So, did Devra visit P.A. Chapaeu's site.... and if so - would that have been around our time frame of Dec. 3 or 4th, meaning she'd, theoretically, know everything on the site from that point.... WHICH brings up is she still monitoring PAC's site... what did she think about seeing herself wrapped into the site and such... have to check timing but was the script or storyboards released by that date?
4. Katalena... is this tying into the mention made in PAC's thought of the day (http://commondatastorage.googleapis.com/pac/IB/02/TOTD/_02_ttotd_012_158468.html )  of there being more to Katalena annndddd with that - Hubert mentions here (https://plus.google.com/101412482791457669319/posts/Yr6AqbS84nm ) about her having family - wellllll perhaps she did have family or connections, Hubert you may now have a way to make things up to Katalena
5. There have been mentions that the links and weavings may run deeper than able to see - well, is this like a chess match where the grandmasters plan a buzillion moves ahead, and ADA knew Devra would go to Christie, so ADA used someone tied to Christie in the substitution because ADA knew she'd be able to use that later....

I'll be updating my XM research Prezi (so much has been popping up regarding XM in the last few weeks) and also ramble a bit more about the Misty event and also the small glimpses chapter 3 is giving us - well I will as soon as the real world of work and responsibilities allows me go play some ;)

Chapter 2 Exotic Matter - complete

Well, the last of chapter 2 was posted (https://docs.google.com/gview?url=http://commondatastorage.googleapis.com/pac/IB/04/item/AnExoticMatter_Chapter2.pdf ) . It closes with the work agent 855 is doing in Zagreb to acquire the tools he needs, and based on his actions thus far, I am very afraid for Devra's and Hubert's life - this person is good...

Otherwise, it has been quiet on the Devra front. Niantic posts had shifted more to the Klue portal battle and also pieces of some of the other Niantic subjects (such as this interesting piece about Misty and Marfa TX - a place where we started and now seem to be rounded back to - http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=2ls384Emb-0 )

A last little piece about the Exotic Matter chapter 2  - based on Devra's discussion - I've been trying to collect all Niantic references to XM - I am slow going at this and sure I am missing things - but I throw up the incomplete piece now, just as an idea - understand it may transform, depending on how my collection goes.  The last piece of the collection would be a fun little piece - If I was a lab rat working in Devra's lab, what research questions and XM studies might I want to do...  what would you do to study XM?  What would you like to know about it?

An Exotic Matter - Chapter 2

The first few pages of chapter 2 have been posted by PAC. They are focusing on the murder in Zurich and the beginning of Hubert Farlowe's journey to find Devra as well as a person so far identified only as 855.

More from novel Exotic Matter coming

Well, it seems we are waiting anxiously for another chapter from Felicia Hajra-Lee's novel, "An Exotic Matter". The author replied to an email sent by PAC (see http://commondatastorage.googleapis.com/pac/IB/03/item/exotic.html ). The email has a few pieces of potential information.

1. the author claims not to be Devra.
2. PAC in his email mentions there are those willing to help Devra.
3. The author states the entire novel came to her in a flash when she was staying in a hotel near Place de la Bastille - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Place_de_la_Bastille

Thomas Greanias did make a reference to the novel here - and mentioned it was not what was expected.  On a potential related note, Hubert Farlowe posted this little thought question...

And of course that does beg the issue - if you were Devra - would you read "An Exotic Matter"????

An Exotic Matter - Where is Devra Now

PAC has shared all of the pages from the first chapter of the novel "An Exotic Matter" that chronicles Devra's Journey from Zurich Switzerland, to Zagreb Croatia.

I'm working on documenting the timeline of events of her journey from the novel, including people and places she came in contact with during that piece of her flight from Niantic after the XM event known as Epiphany Night.

At the end of the chapter, she contacts an old friend and is arranging to meet them.  Who was she going to meet and where is she now?  Was she meeting one of the people in this communication? http://commondatastorage.googleapis.com/pac/IB/01/item/zgr.png or someone from her days at SETI, or project Whydah or....



Also, the storyboards and script that trace the escape from the Niantic facility at CERN to the Zurich train station are being assembled.  You can find updated on the Storyboards and Novel page. I also posted the links to all of the chapter pages posted by PAC as well as a complete file that had been given to me with all of the pages.  A big shout out to all helping to assemble the storyboards - especially Michael Serra (who provided the assembled set with help from Johnathan Chung and others).

I'll also post the timeline, maps and other research from the novel on that page.

First the storyboards and now an author's novel?  Devra... who are you?  Now the song from Savage Garden with the line, "I think I dreamed you into life." keeps going round in my head.
